Out with the Old, IN with the NewSleep: Mattress Review

I received product in exchange for review. All opinions are my own! :)

You know what's weird about "adulting"? I find myself asking questions I never would have just five years ago. I ask or say things like "What's our auto insurance premium at?" "Did we get bumped to the next tax bracket with our new jobs?" "How much of a down payment should we pay on this car?"

Another question? "What kind of mattress should I buy?" YEP with adulthood comes all these questions I never had to think about before :) When Justin and I got married a little over five years ago, my sweet mother in law let us have a queen mattress that they had in their home. We were so grateful, since we couldn't afford a nice mattress while we were both in our undergrad.

We used it for over five years, and while it was fine the first couple years of our marriage, we noticed that our backs started to ache when we woke up. The mattress started to sink in the middle, and we also kind of outgrew the king size ;) I love to sprawl out when I'm sleeping, and I'd always end up kneeing Justin in the middle of the night.

It was definitely time for an upgrade - both in mattress quality and size! I had the amazing opportunity to review a couple of NewSleep's mattresses. NewSleep was started under the premise that people should be able to choose from more than one mattress-- a concept I love! Most online mattress companies only sell one mattress. NewSleep offers FIVE different mattresses ranging from Ultra Plush to Firm-- so you can really pick for your own sleeping needs! The company was founded by mattress professionals who have been in the industry for a long time, so they understand that not everyone falls into one mattress category.

The whole experience of getting the mattress delivered to your door is so fun! The mattress is vacuum sealed to fit in a large box. Carrying it down the stairs was quite the adventure ;) Took a few people!
So exciting to see this on our porch : )

It was super easy to open up the mattress-- fun, actually! We opened up the seal, and the mattress started to expand immediately. Within minutes, the mattress was in its full shape, ready to go!
Opening up the Sophia
We first tried out the Jerome Mattress. The Jerome mattress is a 13 inch conventionally quilted Talalay Latex and Memory Foam mattress. Talalay Latex (a two-dimensional material offers support and pressure relief) contours to your body, and supports you by pushing back like an innerspring mattress. This mattress is great if you sleep with a partner because the Memory Foam helps reduce parter movement. I LOVE the quilted cover - it added additional comfort, and is SO soft.
The Jerome

After a few weeks, we tried out the Sophia mattress. The Sophia is a 10 inch (seven inches of NewSleep Convoluted Support foam, three inches of Gel Memory Foam) Memory Foam mattress with an additional inch of Gel Memory Foam for enhanced comfort. There's a quilted stretch cover that won't change the feel of the mattress, and wicks away moisture, helping you sleep cooler.

LOVING the king sized mattress!

So, the verdict?

Drumroll, please!!!

Our preferred mattress was......

THE SOPHIA!!!

They were both great mattresses. A definite improvement from our original one we were sleeping on :) However, the Jerome was slightly more firm than the Sophia, so that is ultimately what swayed us to the Sophia mattress. I do absolutely loved the quilted of top of the Jerome! It was so soft. Both are amazing mattresses, it just comes down to your own preferred firmness.
