High-Low uh-oh: A Refashion Story

So imagine this: You're browsing the racks of clothing at Forever21. From the corner of your eye, you spot something beautiful. A dress. A gorgeous dress with your favorite floral print on it.
You make a mad dash to get your hands on that beauty. You see it's a high-low cut dress, but you take it to the fitting room anyways, with some hope in your heart.

You try the dress on. It's too short in the front. Especially when you sit down.
And you're just like...

WHY DID THEY RUIN A PERFECTLY BEAUTIFUL DRESS BY MAKING IT TOO SHORT IN THE FRONT?!?!

Well, let me just say... That story happened to me (surprised, were ya?). It was SUCH a bummer to find something I love, only to see that it's ill-fitting. I had to think it over... I could definitely try to fix her up. But is it worth spending $20 on a dress I could potentially ruin? It's risky business, ya know?!
I just loved the shape of the dress and the way it fit me way too much to let it go!! So I bought it. It sat in my "to edit" pile of clothes in the corner of our apartment for a couple weeks. Then, on Halloween night (I'm only a few months behind...), I decided to tackle this project.

I was so nervous to start! I really did love the dress, and I didn't want to mess it up, since it would be a waste of money. BUT... to my relief, it worked out fine! No, it's not perfect... but the floral pattern is busy enough that you can't really tell I cut off the back of the skirt and sewed it on to the front unless you get up close and personal. But I ain't gonna let nobody get that close to me down there anyways. lol. Anyways, here is the before//after...

Then the finished product, all styled up!
I paired my dress with this beautiful mustard infinity scarf from Caring Cowls. Caring cowls is an amazing nonprofit  organization that raises money for various charities. Proceeds are donated to help others in need. So far, they have donated $1500 to various charities! When I first opened up my Caring Cowl, I held it in my arms and had a moment. Tears came to my eyes... There is just something so special about a handmade item. Words can't describe how it feels to know that someone took the time to create a beautiful product for a wonderful cause.

cardigan: Forever21 || scarf: c/o Caring Cowls || dress: Forever21 || booties: c/o Sole Society

and for reference, I am wearing their Chunky Crocheted Caring Cowl :)
Have a WONDERFUL Friday! It's almost CHRISTMAS!!!

The cutesty floral is definitely not something I expected to be paired with a high low style!

Super cute! I have the same issue. I found one from forever 21 that was so short it was almost a shirt. So I wore super thick tights under. Love how you styled this look. Super cute as usual!

You're amazing! Seriously, I love how it turned out! I so wish I had an ounce of your talent. I have a dress that needs a zipper replaced, would you be interested? You could either keep it, or just use it for a post or two! :) I can't decide if I want to keep it or not. haha
