I can count on one hand the amount of times I've had my nails at the salon - I like doing my own nails because it's much more affordable! Lately I've been having some fun with my nails and doing extra things to add a variety to my manicure. I got myself some great Sally Hansen products from my local Walmart to help me out with my modern nails - keep reading for the tutorial!
Start off with clean nails. Remove any old nail polish that may have been on your nails. Feel free to use a nail buffer to really clean up your nails if you want. Then, use Sally Hansen Vitamin E Nail & Cuticle Oil on your nails.
It's an intensely moisturizing Vitamin E oil that softens your cuticles and cares for dry, brittle nails. This is packed with Vitamin E, Wheat Germ, Apricot Kernel, aloe, and Panthenol. It's super easy to use - apply to your nails and cuticles, massage your cuticles, then wash off thoroughly with soap and water or nail polish remover. You can also use this nightly if you want to increase nail flexibility and moisture. I love using it after I take off my nail polish with remover, because it makes my cuticles and nail beds dry. The cuticle oil helps to make them soft and smooth again.
This nail treatment is an all in one base coat, top coat, growth treatment, strengthener, ridge-filler, brightener, and ultra-moisturizing nail treatment! It's so nice to have ONE product that does so much for my nails! It has an exclusively patented formula with avocado oil, sea salt, and pomegranate extract. The shine lasts up to 10 days - perfect for an at-home manicure!
Once you let the base coat dry, it's time for some fun! Use a few pieces of tape to create fun lines on your nails - it can be horizontal lines, vertical lines, off-centered lines, and you can even use a pair of scissors to cut the ridges off one side and use the corner as a fun triangle design (see bottom left photo). Be sure the tape is pressed down. Get rid of any air bubbles. Then start painting away! Don't worry about being messy - you can always fix that later. Damage control ;)
Paint away! I did some nails with patterns and some without for a fun variety. Be sure to use a couple coats of paints, and let it dry completely before peeling the tape off. Carefully paint your other color after peeling off the tape.
You're almost done! Use the Sally Hansen 7-in-1 Nail Treatment as your top coat. Let it dry, then use a q-tip and polish remover to get rid of any extra nail polish that may have gotten on your skin.
YAY! Now you have fun, long-lasting, healthy nails!
The possibilities are endless. A little while back I did the same thing with two other colors as well. It's so fun! Here I'm wearing Sally Hansen's Mauve-olous and Game of Chromes. Love this color combo!
You can find these awesome products at your local Walmart. Go have fun with it, the colors and pattern possibilities are infinite!
