The Perk of Being 5'1"

Good morning and happy JUNE, ladies! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. The weather here was interesting-- it was hot all weekend, until late Sunday night when we had a huge rain/thunderstorm! It was sweaty hot all day Sunday then the rain started to fall at night. Which is actually a good thing because our car was disgusting and needed to be washed, but hey we will just let Mother Nature do her thang. HAHA. Free car wash!! ;)

I've been short for my age for basically my whole life. There are definitely many cons... such as having to stand in the front for class photos, not being able to see the combination lock on a top locker, getting made fun of, being used as an arm rest, not being able to see over tall people's heads at movie theaters, not being able to reach all of the cabinets in the kitchen, being the oldest but shortest sibling, etc... Yes, I have experienced all of those. Wahhh.

However, I have found one extremely awesome perk to being short. I like to wear my skirts and dresses to my knees. While a lot of people have a hard time finding dresses and skirts that are long, I definitely get an advantage in that department! When I saw Jessica wearing this amazing Free People dress, I had a mad crush on the dress!! She was so sweet to tell me that she got a size medium in the dress to compensate for length, so I did the same (I'm normally an XS in Free People dresses since they always run a little large I feel like). The dress length is just what I wanted, and I am so glad! I might take it in a bit since at certain angles it can look hospital gown-ish, but other than that it is perfect.

It's funny because I've seen taller people around the internet (see below) styling this "minidress", as Free People calls it, as a tunic. It's so interesting how the look of an article of clothing can look completely different depending on your height!! I totally love it as a tunic, too!!

Anyways, I just have to say, the perk of being 5'1" is definitely being able to wear clothes as dresses when others might not be able to. Thanks, mom and dad, for the genes.

I feel like I'm such an awkward height. I'm a giant in Hawaii and a midget in the mainland hahahaha.

Ooh, I just love this dress on you!! It's so boho chic. :) I can totally relate- I'm only 5' 3" so I can get away with shorter things still fitting "normally" on me. At least that's one perk of being short! hah!

xo Always, Abby
