Party Like It's 2012; 2011 Blog Review.

2011.
What a great. Fun. Crazy. Exciting. Confusing. Amazing. Fast. Slow. Stressful. Happy. Blessed year it has been.
There are good times, bad times. Hard times, delightful times.
But in the end,of course,it has been amazing.

I started my blog in July, with no intentions of it becoming the fashion blog that it did...
BUT it has definitely been so much fun,and a super rewarding experience!
I have learned so so much!

Let's see some transformations...

SUMMER:
Way back in the day (WHEN I WAS SOOO TAN!!!! I miss my pool & the sun...) when I started experimenting outside the comfortable box of,well... gym shorts and t-shirts.

Then comes FALL...
Where I took things even further along with my style. Tried things I never would have a year ago. I was way too embarrassed to tell people about my blog, let alone ask someone to take my picture,in public..... So here come the embarrassing inside shots. Oh boiii.

And then,of course,comes WINTER...
When I let my blog go public with friends and family, and started to ask my sweet roommate Alissa to take my pictures for me. I really started to branch out with my personal style here.

Even with all the changes within my blog and my personal style, above all,I strived for one factor to always remain constant:
That I dress in a modest way,so the inner beauty which my Heavenly Father has granted me will be able to shine through and reflect on the outside.
I will forever be a work-in-progress,but I plan to continue doing so. I hope to help inspire women everywhere that modesty isn't just about dress,it's about attitude.

I'm truly grateful for all the wonderful people I have been able to come in contact with through my blogging experience. Thanks for all your sweet comments and e-mails!
I'm also so grateful for the support I have received from my family and friends! I love you all! AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE :D

So.
Here's to another wonderful, absolutely fantastic year.
Welcome,2012!
I have a feeling, that you will be a good one.

Happy New Year,everyone!

Stripey Skirt: Fall vs. Winter.

For my Halloween costume this year,I was a little pirate.
I made my own skirt, and well... I like to make the most out of the clothes I have.
So that is what I had donee.

I took some outfit photo's a while ago,and never posted it..
Then I took another outfit photo. As I looked back,I saw too many similarities.
I had to share.
(all my similar poses show just how veryyyy creative I am... cough cough;)

1. The shirt.
Fall: To make a statement,I wore my bold & big red patterned shirt.
Winter: For a more dainty/wintery look,I toned it down to a smaller blue gingham pattern.

2. The Accessories.
Fall: I chose the bright turquoise to contrast the red,and went with the cobalt belt for variety.
Winter: I accessorized with a gold (LOVE me some gold!) necklace and belt for a more elegant tone.

3. The Tights.
Fall: Since my shirt was already such a bold color,I tried to keep it subtle with black tights.
Winter: I went with plum tights. Ya know,to go with the "cool colors" on the color wheel.

4. The Shoes.
Fall: I wore my saa-weeet patterned hobo shoes (or "elf shoes" as my mom says) .
Winter: I went with the chunky lace-up heel booties.

5. Last but not least.......
Fall: There are beautiful leaves everywhere.
Winter: SNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Fall outfit:
Shirt/Necklace/Belt: Forever21.
Skirt: Made by me.
Tights: Walmart?
Shoes: Target.

Winter outfit:
Shirt: Thrifted.
Necklace/Belt: Forever 21.
Skirt: Made by me.
Tights/Booties: Target/Target sale.

The end. (:

Oh,also... Ana from Sweet Serendipity choose me for the Thriftaholic of the week!
Check that out here.

The Start of Something New & Other Random Musings

Since I seem to have a lot of outfits "inspired by" so many other bloggers,I'm going to make it a new lil thing on my bloggy. I LOVE sharing other blogs with people,so I think this will be a fun addition! Can I get a WOOT woot?
The whole reason why I built my blog up to be a modest fashion blog is because of the amazing women I blog stalk. I like to give credit where it's due!

So here I present to you....

Rachel Sayumi: Inspired By...
Yee hee. I so excited.

Here are the past ladies which have inspired outfits for me:

Luxurious Lauren.

Amazing Ashley.

Spectacular Sarah!

Am I lame for copying other people?
Well even if you say nay,I will probably do it... Because I have a lot of fun with it (:

So stay tuned for future "Rachel Sayumi: Inspired By..." posts! (:

Also, did you hear that David Archuleta has decided to serve a full time mission??
Pretty cool news,in my opinion!!

How's everyone's Christmas break goin!?
Mine's been so incredible! School's out of the way... Just being with the people I love... Having a wonderful time. I love this time of the year!

A little sassssss in da house.
I'm so lovin this layered tights trend right now.
It adds variety to an outfit!

I've been a little tights crazy lately!
If you have been, too, then check out Target or Forever21!
They have the best tights, and most of them are $5 or under.

Red + Maroon.

But I am pretty sad that the cold is lurking around the corner.
OH YEAH. AND FINALS,TOO.
Good luck to anyone studying this week!
May you contain all that knowledge in your brain, then dump it all out as you take your tests.
Happy Monday! <3
